What is an educational area?
All programmes at Chalmers belong to one of four educational areas:
- Architecture and Civil Engineering (ASAM)
- Electrical, Medicine, Computer Science, IT and Industrial Engineering (EDIT-I)
- Physics, Chemistry and Biotechnology, Mathematics and Global systems as well as engineering foundation year (KFM)
- Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics and Automation, and Technical Design, Shipping and Marine Engineering (MATS)
Within each educational area, meetings are held to coordinate programmes and the involved departments. The exact topics of the meetings vary between areas but address both strategic and practical issues. Participants include the Dean of the Educational area, Head of programmes, Vice Head of Departments, administrative support staff, and two student representatives.
What do Educational area representatives do?
They participate in the educational area meetings, contribute to strategic development, and raise student-related issues. They ensure that students’ opinions are not overlooked by:
- Highlighting educational issues within the educational area
- Contributing to the educational area’s strategic work
- Discussing issues within the educational area
- Conveying students’ opinions on programmes within the educational area
They also maintain regular contact with the Student Union’s Office of Educational affairs to assess how the educational area is functioning and whether any problems or challenges have arisen.
How do I contact them?
There are mailing lists for each individual educational area:
You can also reach them through your student division board.
