Welcome to your new home!

Whether you’re a freshman, starting your master’s, pursuing a PhD, or just here for an exchange term, you’ve made the right choice by coming to Chalmers. For years, we’ve been ranked as one of the top student unions in Europe when it comes to supporting our members – and we’re so happy that you’re now a part of it!

So, let’s do a quick run-through of the Student union.

How does it work?

The Union is your community and an essential part of the student experience! We’re run by students, for students, and have more than 13,000 members.

We help ensure the quality of education, support student influence, and foster a vibrant community through events, facilities, and services – from organizing Sweden’s largest career fair to hosting pub crawls, sports competitions and movie nights. We also provide access to facilities like a pool, music room, gym hall, and recreational areas.

The membership benefits & your two new best friends

Being a student union member is mandatory, but it's also packed with perks. It gives you the possibility to enjoy discounts on and off campus, access gym halls and relaxation spaces, attend fun events, buying affordable lunches and much more.

  • Once you join, you’ll get your student union card — your new campus essential. It acts as an access pass, a payment card with built-in discounts, and is accepted at our campus cafés, restaurants, and shops.
  • Your second best friend? The student union app (download app for iOS - download for Android). Use it to top up your card, check events happening around campus, browse menus, view opening hours and validate your membership for exams and events.

Being a student is not all studies…

Your time at Chalmers will sometimes be tough filled with studies and hard exams. But being a Chalmers student is about more than just studying. We believe everyone thrives when there's a balance between work and play.

And that is where we come in – there is always something happening on campus. All fun events and activities within the student union are the work of hundreds of student volunteers. We have 20 committees and over 40 societies that make sure that all members can find something for them whether it is playing in a band, attending fancy balls, gaming or hitting the badminton court.

Make sure to take breaks and relax in between all the intense study sessions. Both on and off campus, we have facilities you can book for some well-deserved downtime and great memories – whether you're on your own or with a group of friends.
